Family Bonding Time
When my girls were in elementary school, they took swim lessons weekly. I will never forget the excitement on their little faces when they accomplished something for the first time. They would be so proud and look to make sure I was watching to give them a clapping hand or a thumbs up.
Family bonding time isn't limited to spending time together; it's being there for the little moments that are a HUGE deal in your kid's lives. Kids want to know that you're watching and rooting them on. Heck, my oldest would invite Grandma, Grandpa, and the whole neighborhood if she could have every single week to swim class to watch her.
All of those years I spent taking my girls to swim lessons paid off in so many beautiful ways. We travel quite a bit. If my girls hadn't learned so many valuable lessons over the years, we wouldn't have been able to do things like jump off a plank on a pirate ship in the Cayman Islands.
Honestly, my family LOVES being near the water. We have a boat, we have a cottage off of Lake Huron, plus we enjoy traveling to beachy locations. All I wouldn't have been able to do without swim lessons.
Family bonding time changes as your kid's age. My husband and I went from swimming with infants to next summer we will be surfing in Hawaii with a senior in high school and a freshman. I'm tearing up just thinking about that.
