With so many affordable backyard pools on the market, many people have pools.  So, with summer around the corner, I thought we should discuss home pool safety. 

It doesn't matter if you have a baby pool, Intex, or even an inground pool, you should always follow home pool safety.

We had a pool before my kids could even walk, and I went out of my way to protect my children and the kids that might find themselves in my back yard.

Here is a list of do's for home pool safety!

• Do signup your child for swim lessons. This is so important. Your child will learn about water safety along with the lifelong skill of knowing how to swim.
• Do lock your gates, ladders, sliding doors, keep kids away from water when an adult isn't around to supervise.
• Do wear sunscreen. Teach your children to protect their skin. Make it a habit just like brushing your teeth.
• Do have a phone nearby in case you need to call 911.
• Do talk as a family about the rules around water and safety.
• Do assign someone to always be watching in the water. Never be more than arm's length away.
