iHeartMedia has partnered with the Detroit Zoo to bring an exciting new change to the Wild Summer Nights Concert Series presented by Genisys Credit Union. Wild Summer Nights features a variety of live music from local bands, including children’s, jazz, pop, folk and blues. Special $6 admission ticket after 6 p.m. The Zoo is open late Wednesdays for Wild Summer Nights in July and August until 8 p.m.

July 15 – Starfarm (80’s pop rock)
July 22 – Michigan Opera Theatre (Detroit Opera House)
July 29 – Mr. Seley and the Troublemakers (children’s)
Aug. 5 – Taylor Taylor (pop)
Aug. 12 – The Verve Pipe (children’s)
Aug. 19 – Detroit Children’s Choir (Detroit Symphony Orchestra)
Aug. 26 – Candy Band (children’s)

Concerts take place in the Zoo’s Main Picnic Grove from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Concert-goers are invited to bring a blanket and enjoy the music. Food, snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase from Zoo concessions. Parking is free for Members and $6 per car for non-members. We also want to share a wonderful adults-only night at the Zoo called Summer Zoomance. It’s a 21-and-Older event that features all of the normal Zoo activities without all of the kids. Guests are encouraged to come and enjoy music and drinks and rekindle their childhood love for the Detroit Zoo on July 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on August 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $14 a person and you must be 21 and older to attend.

Tickets for Summer Zoomance can be purchased in advance online or at Window One at the main entrance of the Zoo and at the gates the night of the event. For the August event, get a discount of $12 if purchased by August 6 by 5 p.m. $14 if purchased after 5 p.m. on August 6.

The Summer Zoomance makes a great date night or a night out with a group of friends. Here are some photos from the 2014 Summer Zoomance event that we attended. We had a fun time taking photos, riding the complimentary tram, and sipping on mixed drinks.
